Characteristic of selected genes controlling meat quality in pigs . A review
نویسنده
چکیده
For many years, pig breeders have concentrated their pig improvement efforts on producing a population characterized by adequate meatiness. Development of molecular genetics techniques resulted in the detection of genes with major effects in quantitative traits. Segregation analysis of numerous microsatellite markers, evenly distributed throughout the genome, and variation of a productive trait in the reference family, may help to identify the chromosome region in which the major gene locus probably occurs. This analysis has led to the identification in pigs of over 2 262 DNA microsatellite markers, and 1 381 genes, amoung others FAT1, RYR1, RN-, LEP, LEPR GH IGFs, MyoD family genes presented in this articile which are significantly correlated to meat quality, carcass quality or growth rate.

Clostridium Perfringens Toxin Types Associated with Meat: Review in Iran
Food poisoning due to Clostridium perfringens (C. perfringens) is a major food health problem, particularly in terms of meat consumption. Due to human’s susceptibility to this pathogen, detection methods and prevention measures should be implemented to reduce its incidence. Several pathogenic strains of C. perfringens have been identified so far. One of the potential concerns about this bacteri...

متن کاملRelationships between GPI and PGD loci genotypes and selected meat quality traits in Duroc and Pietrain pigs
The results of statistical analysis appeared inconclusive as to which allele of the GPI locus could significantly affect the traits of meat quality, but higher meat pH45 values have been observed in animals with the GPIB/B genotype in both the Duroc and Pietrain breed. For meat pH24, the GPI A/B genotype appeared to be more favourable, although not significantly. Beneficial effect on the meat c...
متن کاملCarcass and Meat Quality of Selected Final Crossbred Pigs in the Republic of Croatia
The objective of this research was to compare the quality of carcass and meat of selected pigs in Croatia. Investigation was carried out on 80 pigs, divided into three groups. Pigs from 1 and 2 groups were threeway crossbreeds between Large White and Swedish Landrace on the dam side and Pietrain (1 group) and German Landrace (2 group) on the sire side. 3 group was created from pigs crossbreed b...
متن کاملAssociation between ADSL, GARS-AIRS-GART, DGAT1, and DECR1 expression levels and pork meat quality traits.
In this study, meat quality traits were compared between Chinese lard- and European lean-type pigs. The association between expression of four genes (ADSL, GARS-AIRS-GART, DGAT1, and DECR1) and meat quality traits was also investigated. Meat quality traits were found to differ significantly between pig breeds. Meat color parameter values (a* and b*) and intramuscular fat content in Anqingliubai...
